The polymer ball bearings from igus have become an independent product line named xiros. The name is derived from the Ancient Greek „xsiros“ which means „dry“ ball bearings for lubricant-free dry running. The inner and outer rings are manufactured in two further material variants and there are additional dimensions available.
Variant one is dry-running polymer ball bearings for high-temperature range and resistant up to 150 °C. The areas of application for anti-magnetic and highly corrosion-resistant open systems are in the chemical industry, food industry, pharmaceutical and bio-technology. Variant two are maintenance-free polymer ball bearings for broader application areas in the normal temperature range made of special plastic.
